About Advance Space Monitor, LLC
Advance
Space Monitor, LLC (ASM) has acquired
an exclusive worldwide license through NASA’s Jet Propulsion
Laboratory (JPL) and the California Institute of Technology
(Caltech)’s Patented Technologies Office to commercialize
patents related to rapid detection of pathogens. The company
will manage, produce and perform research, development and product
testing utilizing this licensed technology. Currently, four
subsidiary companies are being established to market and sell
products to four distinct markets; First responder and military
market, healthcare industry, mold remediation market, and the
hospitality industry.
Our mission is to
become the world’s leading provider of secure, reliable,
and low cost surface and water spore detection products. In
doing so, ASM will fill a void that exists today for products
that provide rapid and accurate endospore detection. Current
competitive products offer an expensive and lengthy, 72 hours,
testing process, or are too labor intensive to be practical.
ASM’s products are being designed to be competitively
priced, easy to use and provide a rapid detection analysis time
of 4 minutes, while maintaining a 99% accuracy rate.
In the United States
alone, the incidence of hospital-acquired infections is 2 million
cases per year, which results in over 90,000 deaths. This has
an annual economic impact of $6.7 billion dollars in added cost
to the U.S. healthcare system.
In 2005, there were
over 11,000 terrorist attacks carried out around the world.
This does not even account for the potential attacks that were
planned, but stopped by law enforcement. Bio-Terrorism is a
real threat that can cause, at the very least, public chaos,
sickness and death.
According to a 2002
study done by the National Institute of Health and Medical Research
in Paris, 1 in 5 persons with Asthma has severe attacks in the
presence of mold. Infections, bio-terrorism and mold have one
thing in common; they are caused by spores of living organisms.
The previous technology to ensure proper hygiene was to perform
a protein based test. That test did not detect the real problem:
Spores! Technology developed by NASA in conjunction with Caltech,
which was to ensure that space travelers did not risk contamination
to the environment, is the same technology ASM uses to detect
and destroy infectious water or surface-borne spores in hospitals,
homes and on the battlefield.
An expensive process
that used to take 72 hours can be reduced to just 4 minutes
with extreme accuracy, at low cost. This changes everything.
Hospitals can now be assured that the very room from where an
infected person has just been released is appropriately disinfected
and ready for a new patient, without fear of infection or unintentional
suffering. Extra hospital cost associated with hospital-acquired
infections will go down and hospital beds can be fully utilized
to treat more patients. Within minutes, law enforcement can
now determine whether or not the presence of a white powder
in a public place is a threat. This will reduce chaos and the
strain on law enforcement resources, when threats are determined
not to be real, yet, taking every threat seriously. Mold can
be detected and removed safely in homes and public buildings
before the effects of mold-related illnesses, such as severe
asthma, pose public health issues.
